That's three to four million living, thinking, feeling things killed every year for no reason other than our unwillingness to let them live outside the bondage of human ownership. There are words for mass-killings like these.

Two come to mind: "pogrom" and "holocaust." If you are a "vet" who works for a humane society that "euthanizes" healthy animals, you should recognize that you are really just a guard at a death camp.
